Issues Paper: People's Perspectives on Land

This year AusAID announced a new Pacific Land Program ostensibly for the purpose of both protecting customary land rights and increasing foreign direct investment in PNG, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and East Timor. Land is a contentious issue in the pacific, particularly PNG. This paper written by Steven Sukot of the Bismark Ramu Group was presented on behalf of Papua New Guinean NGOs at the AusAID Making Land Work Conference in June 2008.
