At a conference to discuss the implications of the global economic crisis on Pacific Island countries in August 2009, Ralph Regenvanu, Vanuatu MP and Director of Vanuatu National Cultural Council, highlighted the central importance of the traditional economy in supporting livelihoods and its role as a source of resilience during the crisis.
